Travelling west form Arckaringa on the station roads, you pass through more painted desert scenery as well as flat nothingness, till you get to a fork in the road, a place called San Marino Hut. Don’t know why it’s called that, but there is evidence of a once building and well. Had a look around and continued South to Evelyn downs.
Somewhere, a few ks on, a track wound along the banks of a watercourse, being after lunch, we decided to follow it and search for a camp for the night. After a few ks another track went in closer to the watercourse and there ew found our camp.
Spent a few days there, doing washing and just relaxing. Then one morning the aproaching clouds signaled rain on the way, so pack up and move on. The soil there looked like it would turn to glue and mush when wet, so better to be on more firmer ground if that happened.
