                                                           another day in paradise

Gidday all,

The weather finally cleared up enough to move on. Did the last 20ks to Leigh Creek and decided to move up to Coply, just 5ks up the road as it would be more camel friendly than the larger township. For these last 20or30ks we have had to stick to the bitumen road as the dirt tracks have turned to mud with the rain we have been having.

Traveling along the bitumen is slower going if you can believe it. Every so often you get people pulling up for a chat and photos. Deb can get a bit frustrated with this as the camels like to keep going once they start, rather than stopping and starting, and so does Deb. We have had some pull up in between the wagon and us, as we were out front with hazard lights on to warn oncoming vehicles, and pull up for a chat, on a climb up a hill !  Some people have no idea.

Anyway, pulled into Coply in the late arvo and found a block round the back of town to pull up. Settled the camels down for the night and started to cook tea. Next thing there was someone at the door, I called a greeting and he angrily told us we were ignorant freeloaders for not calling in to his place before stopping, to ask permission to stop on his land. I and Deb tried to explain that we intended to seek someone out in the morning to inquire about the land, but he continued to rave on, we apologized but it didn’t seem to satisfy him. He left without introducing himself or where he lived, then came back to say sorry for being angry, had another rant then left. Still don’t know who he is or where he came from. He was right, but could have approached the situation better. Think he owned the caravan park down the road.
Packed up next morning and moved to the other end of town. The rain started again so we might be here for a few more days. Will look for some more friendly locals today.

  1. Hi Din & Garry !! FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY ... I can FINALLY view all of your pics (which are just amaaaaaaaazing) - and LEAVE A COMMENT for you guys! I had to change my google settings, and I'd tried everything else, so I spent a couple of hourmake the effort to see her as much as s messing with various settings, and I'm SOOOOOO HAPPY that I can FINALLY see your Travelling Farr page once again - I haven't been able to do that since yas were in Europe - and IT'S LITERALLY AWESOME!! So I'm an extremely happy gal, and it's soooooo gooooood to be able to see what yas have been doing and how FARRRRRR yas have come! Deb must be a truly incredibly and individualist lady - I love her camels and her gorgeous dog (Thac?) and her hundred year old wagon, and how great is it that yas found such an amazing person to align yaselves with for yet another "trip of a lifetime: (How many is that now??)
I wondered if yas will be coming back home in the next month? And if so, would yas like to meet me & Karen in Mackay during our stay? (Around the 4th, 5th, 6th, and maybe the 7th September). She's flying into HB and then we're going on a 'Gal's Roadtrip' to Mackay - YaaaaaY!! I haven't told the Budster yet, but I'm really looking forward to catching up with him while I'm there, of course. We'd love to be able to come all the way up to T'ville, but I7 days with Karen, and I haven't seen My Mummy for FOUR YEARS (!!!!!) and at 90 years old, I want to see as much of her as I possibly can while I'm up there .. every minute with her counts, because it's not the same as calling her each day. But it would be soooo great to have the 5 of us (including The Budster) all getting together if yas will be heading home by then - the last time that happened was for my Wedding! So .... what do yas think??? Do yas plan on coming back in the next month? And if so, which way do you think yas might come? And will it be a possibility to all meet up?
Anyway .. I've really enjoyed finally being able to see all of your pics and your page - I've felt like I've been really missing out on all of your last few trips - AND I SERIOUSLY HAVE!! So thanks for sharing all the pics etc about where yas have been, where yas are now, are and what yas are planning on doing next - I can see that a LOT of effort goes into this fabulous page - and I'm absolutely sure that I'm not the only one who loves it and really appreciates it too!!
So please - take really good care of yourselves, and let me know if yas are planning on going back to T'ville in the next month, if yas will be coming this way, or if meeting up with Karen and me and The Budster in Mackay might be a possibility? Thanks guys - I can't wait to catch up, but I also love & appreciate the phone calls whenever yas are in range : ) Love and miss you both TRUCKLOADS, my dear friends. Always. Forever. : ) XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
